If the shipping charge seems too high, please contact me - it has to do with the settings. We refund shipping overage if it turns out that our estimate was wrong.

A relatively rare American Majolica Pottery Figural Bear Pitcher with patent applied for markings - dating to around 1900.

It is in good condition without chips, cracks or repairs. If you look closely you will notice the fine overall crazing of the glaze, which is one of the signs of this piece's age. Crazing of the glaze pertains to the glaze only - it is superficial and not structural. None of the craze lines go any deeper than the glaze.

It measures 8-1/4" tall.

The bear is seated and its mouth serves as the pouring spout should you ever want to use it as a pitcher. It appears to have been used by the estate as a flower vase - it has a little dirt and dust inside - we have not done anything to clean it; I assume that it would clean perfectly if you use warm water with dish washing detergent in it - perhaps a brush to get into the corners.

Please, view photos of the markings under the base of the bear and use the zoom function to get a better impression of details.
