Vintage Hand Painted Ceramic Beads Knotted Necklace Functional or for parts
A vintage necklace made of long ceramic white beads that are hand painted with pink flowers and leaves. The beads are separated by knots on the string. We estimate it to be Japanese from the 1940s or 1950s.
The 26" long necklace has a slide-in type metal clasp that is very beautiful. The metal has a gold finish. It is unknown what type of metal it is. The clasp looks like filigree or mesh with a little flower on top. This clasp functions properly.
There are 23 beads. Each bead measures approximately 1" long.
The string appears to be cotton - I would recommend restringing the necklace before wearing - better safe than sorry.
These beads are very unusual - they can be used with other beads to create your own unique look. The colors lend themselves to a spring collection.
